The dmarcian alternative for European SMBs and agencies
dmarcian effectively invented the DMARC-monitoring category, and if you never look at the invoice you will be happy there. Teams go looking for an alternative for three concrete reasons — and one of them is not "features".
The three reasons people switch
API access: dmarcian gates its API behind the Enterprise tier. If you want to wire deliverability checks into a CI pipeline or client-onboarding automation on a small plan, you cannot. MonitorBase includes a read API from Pro (€45/month) and the full read-write API from Agency (€90/month).
Agency economics: dmarcian serves MSPs through a partner program you apply for. MonitorBase makes white-label a plan feature — Agency (€90/month excl. VAT) gets client workspaces, your logo on PDFs and report emails, revocable client share links and scheduled monthly reports, no application required.
European fit: USD billing, English-only UI and a US-centric source directory are fine until they aren't. MonitorBase bills in EUR through an EU-sovereign processor (card + SEPA + iDEAL, EU VAT handled), publishes its website, Terms and client reports in Danish, and its source directory covers e-conomic, Dinero, Billy, DanDomain, one.com and Simply.com alongside the global services.
Where dmarcian remains the right answer
A decade of RUA data behind source identification, SSO and enterprise access controls, a large support organisation, and battle-tested scale in the hundreds-of-millions-of-messages range. A multinational with a dedicated email security team should shortlist dmarcian (and Valimail, and Red Sift). MonitorBase's sweet spot is the 1–150 domain range: SMBs, webshops and the agencies that manage them.
Migrating is one DNS edit
DMARC monitoring has no lock-in: your data lives in your DNS. Add your MonitorBase ingest address to the rua= tag (you can run both tools in parallel — rua accepts multiple destinations), watch a week of reports arrive, then remove the old address when you are satisfied. The free plan needs no card, so the comparison costs nothing but the DNS edit.
